A page called r/penmanshipporn, on the popular content-sharing site, Reddit, features a constant flow of handwriting samples so gorgeous you’ll never want to put a cap on it.

“I've gotten a ton of requests from people who want to pay me to address their wedding invitations!” Rochelle Truong, who goes by the Reddit handle ellehcor and has contributed to the page, told The Huffington Post.

Thanks to the popularity of texting, many think having good penmanship is a thing of the past -- but that may not necessarily be a good thing.

According to a 2012 study, writing something down by hand stimulates your brain. Researchers showed 5-year-old kids, who had not yet learned to read or write, a letter or a shape on an index card and asked them to reproduce it in one of three ways -- to draw it freehand, trace it using dots or type it on a computer.

Kids who wrote the letter or shape freehand had increased activity in areas of the brain that are activated in adults when they read and write. Kids who traced or typed did not.

“When we write, a unique neural circuit is automatically activated,” Stanislas Dehaene, a psychologist at the Collège de France in Paris, told The New York Times. “There is a core recognition of the gesture in the written word, a sort of recognition by mental simulation in your brain.”
