Barbara Davis, a mainstay of the LA gala scene, is listing her Westwood high-rise condo.
Mrs. Davis is the widow of Marvin Davis, a man who made billions in oil and entertainment deals. He was once the owner of Twentieth Century Fox, the Pebble Beach Company, the Aspen Skiing Company and the Beverly Hills Hotel.
Mrs. Davis has earned a well-deserved reputation as a philanthropist. Among other, less flashy, charitable acts, she throws a biannual black tie ball for diabetes research called the Carousel of Hope Gala. Attendees include the likes of Joan Collins and Larry King.
After her husband's death in 2004, Mrs. Davis sold their massive, 25,000 square foot estate termed The Knoll. She then briefly moved into a bungalow at the Beverly Hills Hotel before settling down in this opulent condo on Wilshire.
The 2,577-square-foot apartment has two bedrooms, two-and-a-half bathrooms, and two terraces that promise stunning city views. It's one of 97 units at The Wilshire, which was also Farrah Fawcett's last residence. The 27-story building has a pool and a gym, as expected. More surprising and opulent, though, is its temperature-controlled wine room. The luxurious digs are a steal, too. The lovely Mrs. Davis bought the apartment for $2.295 million and is listing it at the lower price of $1.885 million.
