Opening reception for an exhibition of new portraits and landscapes by Catherine Opie. The photographs in this collection mark both a progression and a departure for the artist, drawing upon Opie's beginnings in documentary photography, the traditions of painting, and the history of photography. Iván Argote & Pauline Bastard present Born to Curate, a live curatorial battle that pits four teams of Los Angeles-based curators head to head in a game of wit and knowledge. Participating curators include Mark Allen, Alex Donis, Charlotte Eyerman, Cecilia Fajardo-Hill, Miki Garcia, Mat Gleason, Chris Kallmyer, Bill Kelley, Jr., Shamim Momin, and Matthew Schum with emcee Mario Ybarra, Jr. Structured like a game show, teams have two minutes to conceptualize a curatorial project or exhibition in response to a theme picked at random. Admission is free.

Presented by LACMA's Prints and Drawings Council, the third annual LA Print includes presentations and discussions by notable and emerging printmakers and print shops split between LACMA's Brown Auditorium and CAFAM. Cirrus Editions, Edition Jacob Samuel, Gemini G.E.L., Hamilton Press, The Lapis Press, Mixografia Workshop, and Modern Multiples offer presentations throughout the afternoon and the free event concludes with a panel discussion featuring representatives from Art Is Shit Editions, Buddha Cat Press, Lucky Bunny Visual Communications, and Self Help Graphics & Art.

The Armory Center for the Arts hosts its bi-annual art auction Off The Wall. The event includes drinks, live music, and dinner sponsored by some of Pasadena's best restaurants. Multiple silent auctions feature works by over 70 contemporary artists including Larry Bell, Chris Burden, Richard Jackson, Daniel Joseph Martinez, Olga Koumoundorouos, Steve Roden, Ed Ruscha, Betye Saar, and Pae White.
