Police Officer Brad Johnson Helps Homeless Man Martin McCall Get New Job, Home

Forty-eight-year-old Martin McCall of Redwood City, California, saw his life fall apart five years ago when he lost his job and wife left him. KTVU reports that he has struggled with homelessness for the past three years, spending his nights sleeping in front of Redwood's traffic court building and his days sitting in the city's Courthouse Square.

That is where Officer Brad Johnson, a local policeman, got to know and respect McCall, who was always friendly. Upon hearing about a job opening at a nearby mobile home park, he set up McCall with a maintenance position that included free housing in the park.

McCall struggles to hold back tears of joy as he moves into his new home, where he will finally have his own bed.

"It doesn't suck to be me anymore," he says.
