Punt Fail: Wind Sends Ball Backwards, Results In Safety During Guyer-Nelson High School Football Game (VIDEO)

WATCH: Mother Nature Scores For High School Football Team

The Guyer Wildcats scored 51 points without any assistance against in-state rivals Nelson Bobcats last Thursday in Denton, Texas. Mother Nature chipped in two points as Guyer won 53-28.

The Byron Nelson Bobcats fell victim to the elements when they attempted to punt from their own 27-yard line during the third quarter. According to the Denton Record Chronicle, a giant gust of wind passed over the field and pushed the punt backwards into their own end zone. A Bobcats player fell on the ball resulting in a safety for Guyer.

“It was very weird, and from the grace of God those balls bounced our way,” Guyer quarterback Jerrod Heard said via the Denton Record Chronicle.

The bizarre punt fail was one of two safeties scored by the Wildcats, who rushed for 350 yards, per Steve Gamel of Allen Publishing.

Though the punt was certainly one of the strangest in recent memory, the Bobcats caught a break from their bad luck with the absence of the Turf Monster. The Denver Broncos, on the other hand, weren't as fortunate.
