Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother Style Evolution: From Pearls To Pearls (PHOTOS)

The Queen Mother's Prim And Proper Style

Whether she was touring the copper mines in southern Africa or waving from the balcony at Buckingham Palace, Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother, was never seen without her signature strand of pearls.

From her robin egg blue suits with matching hats, to her fur shawls, she was always dressed to the nines. Her signature dress of long wool coats and perfectly-coiffed hair made her a style icon just as much as she was a monarchal figure. From a young age Queen Mother Elizabeth had a penchant for upturned hats, and as she got older her outfits simply became more elaborate and ornate. Though the Queen Mother died over a decade ago, her sense of fashion and impeccable taste has made a lasting impression. In honor of her birthday we're looking back at her style throughout the years.

Though she'll forever be remembered for her sharp witticism, disarming nature and longevity, when conjuring up those memories it's hard to forget all her amazing jewels and perfectly paneled dresses.
