WASHINGTON -- If you have ever seen a diner at a restaurant pull out a camera to document what's about to be eaten, that person might have been HuffPost DC Assistant Editor Rachel Tepper.
During an appearance on WAMU-FM's "Kojo Nnamdi Show," Tepper joined local food stylist Lisa Cherkasky to discuss the world of food photography.
As part of her work for HuffPost DC, Rachel has gone around town to places big and small to not only write, but photograph great food stories.
Tepper's no novice. She has been photographing food for years, using her personal blog, The Pumpernickel Collection, as a platform.
So if you're an ordinary diner, have a camera and want to document your meal, what's the etiquette? Tepper told Nnamdi that it depends on the time and place.
"I never take my camera out in a hushed restaurant ... in a very intimate setting," she said. "I feel that's disrespectful towards the other diners. At the same time, I always take pictures if it's in the daytime, if it's good light, if it's not inappropriate, because I think that at the end of the day, I'm having a conversation about food and that's what restaurants are all about."
