Reiss Sees Profits Double In 2011, Thanks (Probably) To Kate Middleton (PHOTOS)

How Kate Can Make You Rich

We're guessing Buckingham Palace will be receiving a Christmas card from Reiss this year.

Earlier this year, Kate Middleton wore two of the brand's dresses, and predictably, the frocks immediately sold out online as fans rushed to snag a piece of Kate-sanctioned style.

And now, it looks like Kate's been great for the high street chain's sales overall: Reiss announced yesterday that their profits soared in 2011, almost doubling.

Telegraph reports that sales increased from 77.7 million pounds to 87.6 million pounds (about $120 million to $130 million) at Reiss this fiscal year, and operating profits jumped from 4.3 million to 8.5 million. Wow!

Reiss won't say that their soaring revenue is due to the fandom of one Kate Middleton, but here's what we do know: the Duchess chose to wear a white 159 pound Reiss dress for her official engagement photo, taken by Mario Testino in January 2011; she wore the dress again to a Canada Day celebration in July with that famous maple leaf topper. The resulting frenzy brought heaps of recognition to the UK brand founded by David Reiss, which recently came stateside, opening an outlet in New York.

Never underestimate the power of a little (royal) dress.
