Save Nigeria Protest

Nigerian President Umaru Yar'Adua dropped his post abruptly last November to seek medical treatment in Saudi Arabia, with no public announcement of where he was going or when he would return. His absence leaves the country "even more rudderless and adrift than it had been at any time in our history," according to the Nigeria Democratic Liberty Forum - who is staging a protest in front of the Nigerian consulate in New York this Friday.

From the group's website:

In the face of the colossal failure of leadership in Nigeria, it is imperative that all truly patriotic Nigerians answer the call to rise up and insist that ENOUGH IS ENOUGH. As a minimum, we should demand that President Yar'Adua resign immediately.

The movement is international -- protesters gathered in London just last week.
