Rick Perry: Immigration Reform Won't Be Successful With 'Revolving Door' Border (VIDEO)

Perry Weighs In On Immigration Reform

Gov. Rick Perry (R-Texas) discussed immigration reform on Fox News Wednesday and insisted that America not have a "revolving door" border.

"You cannot have an immigration policy until you first secure the border," Perry said.

If there is a "revolving door" at the border, "then it doesn't matter what your immigration policy is, it will be unsuccessful," Perry said. Perry denounced a possible pathway to citizenship for undocumented immigrants, a proposal that has divided some Republicans as the Senate negotiates an immigration reform plan. Perry claimed that a pathway to citizenship already exists, and that it is "to get in line and pay your dues and to meet the requirements of citizenship."

Perry has been vocal in his opposition to other hot topics as well. Recently, he protested against what he called a "foolish" Medicaid expansion under President Barack Obama's health care law, and stated his desire to ban abortion in Texas.
