Ripley's Believe It Or Not! 'Unlocks The Weird'

Labor Day weekend is traditionally the end of summer, but it’s the beginning of “weird season” for Ripley’s Believe It Or Not!

The purveyors of the peculiar traditionally release their annual of oddities in early September. And, almost as traditionally, they give a sneak peek to HuffPost Weird News readers over the Labor Day weekend.

The latest book, Unlock The Weird, will be released Tuesday, Sept. 6, so take a peek at these strange photos while you’re relaxing this weekend and get ready for another weird year.

Woodpecker Attacked By Weasel

No, the woodpecker is not giving this weasel a ride. The weasel is actually attacking the bird at Hornchurch Country Park in East London. The bird eventually landed on the ground, causing the weasel to fall off.
Cat With Alien Eyes
Ripley's Believe It Or Not!
Matilda is a 2-year-old tabby cat in Canada, who has huge glassy eyes because of a genetic condition called spontaneous lens luxation. (It causes the eye lens to dislocate from its normal position.) Other than having problems seeing, the cat is healthy. She also has a healthy Instagram following.
Sheep Dung Spitting
Ripley's Believe It Or Not!
It takes a good sport to participate in the Sheep Dung Spitting contest held annually in Irvinestown, Ireland. Participants put the poop in their mouths and see who can spit it the farthest. The record is 29.5 feet.
Count Chocula Portrait Made Of M&Ms

Detroit-based artist Eric Millikin needed 1,000 miniature bags of M&Ms to create this portrait of kiddie cereal icon Count Chocula. Millikin has also made candy portraits of Freddy Krueger, Frankenstein's monster and Jason from the "Friday the 13th" movies.

The Lotus Building in Wujin, China, looks like three flowers, from bud to fully open bloom. It uses the heating and cooling of the surrounding lake to be as energy efficient as possible.
