While her 2016 presidential ambitions remain nothing more than speculation, Hillary Clinton received some more advice on Sunday for her possible campaign.
Former White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs weighed in on NBC's "Meet The Press," arguing that a Clinton 2016 run would need to be distinct from the last two Democratic presidents: Bill Clinton and Barack Obama.
“She also has to distinguish herself from her husband,” Gibbs said. “If her campaign becomes an extension of either her husband’s term, or current president’s term, it’s not necessarily a good deal for her.”
Clinton's team dismissed a 2016 rumor floated by New York City mayoral candidate Anthony Weiner (D) last week. When asked if he knew what his wife, Huma Abedin, would be doing in a Clinton run, Weiner said "I do." A Clinton spokesman denied knowing anything regarding Weiner's answer, telling Politico they had "absolutely no clue what he was talking about."
While Clinton's team has been mum on the presidential possibility, polls have shown that Americans would overwhelmingly support her as the Democratic 2016 nominee. HuffPost Pollster's latest compilation of 14 publicly available polls has Clinton holding 61.3 percent of the vote. She has remained near that level since December 2012.
