GOP Senator: Obama 'Has A Lot Of Explaining To Do'

Sen. Roy Blunt (R-Mo.) said President Barack Obama "has a lot of explaining to do" in his annual State of the Union address.

"According to recent reports, the president plans to use this speech as a kick-off for his so-called 'Year of Action,'" Blunt said in the weekly GOP address on Saturday.

"What President Obama fails to acknowledge is that Americans are hurting as a result of his own policies," Blunt said.

“If all he has to offer is more of the same, or if he refuses to acknowledge that his own policies have failed to work, the President is simply doing what many failed leaders have done before him: trying to set one group of Americans against another group of Americans,” Blunt added.

Obama will deliver the speech in front of a joint session of Congress at 9 p.m. on Tuesday.

Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-Wash.) will give the official GOP response to Obama's State of the Union address. Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) will deliver his own response to the president's speech.
