Salmon Swims Up-Street, Not Upstream, On Flooded Washington Road (VIDEO)

Salmon usually swim upstream, but sometimes circumstances force them to swim up-street.

That's the "fish-uation" facing several intrepid salmon who swam across a flooded road in Mason County, Wash., according to KVAL.com.

Heavy rains in the region have caused water levels to rise and, when that happens, the salmon go wherever the rivers are flowing, according to professional fisherman Conway Bowman, host of "Fly Fishing The World," a fishing show on The Sportsman Channel.

"This can happen when high water correllates with the spawning season," Bowman told HuffPost Weird News. "Basically, the salmon are so focused on screwing and spawning that they run up any running water."

Seeing fish on the road instead of the water might make them sitting ducks, but Bowman suggests folks leave them alone.

"It's a total unfair advantage," he said. "But if I did want to catch them, I'd use a net instead of bringing out the poles. But that's not so sporting."
