Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin announced Wednesday in a statement that she's not running for president.
By not running, Palin said she would be "unshackled and able to be even more active" in the conservative quest to unseat President Obama, who is up for reelection next year.
"I look forward to using all the tools at my disposal to get the right people in there who have a servant's heart," she said in her statement, adding that she will remain on the "mission to help wake up America to what's going on in this country.
"I can be more effective and more aggressive in this mission" without being a candidate, she added.
Palin said much the same to Alaskans when she resigned as governor in July 2009.
During her famous "only dead fish go with the flow," resignation speech, she promised Alaskans she would continue to fight for the state. "(N)o more 'politics as usual' and I am taking my fight for what's right -- for Alaska -- in a new direction," she said then.
After that speech, she gave her cabinet members, who were standing beside her, hugs and then walked into her house. Since that day, she's had little to do or say about Alaska politics, and hasn't been seen much around Alaska. Word is that she hardly goes to the grocery store any more. ...
