Scott Brown To Campaign For Gabriel Gomez

Scott Brown Campaigning For GOP Senate Hopeful

After passing on the chance to return to the Senate and keeping a low profile during the special election race in Massachusetts, former Sen. Scott Brown (R-Mass.) is jumping in to help the Republican candidate vying for Secretary of State John Kerry's Senate seat.

The Boston Globe reported Thursday that Brown will campaign Monday alongside GOP candidate Gabriel Gomez. The special election is set for the following day, June 25.

Brown told Fox Boston on Tuesday that he was "happy to help" Gomez, but he also suggested Democratic candidate Ed Markey would have had something to worry about if he had decided to run.

"I could beat Ed Markey, absolutely," Brown said.

Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.), Brown's former opponent, has remained present throughout the race, actively fundraising for Markey.

On behalf of Markey, Warren doubled the fundraising goal originally set by Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.), who called on Republicans to donate to Gomez's campaign earlier this month.

Warren wasn't the only prominent Democrat to go to bat for Markey -- President Barack Obama campaigned with him in Boston earlier this month.
