Scott Stringer's Campaign Office Burglarized, Two Laptops Stolen

Stringer-Gate? Burglars Swipe Laptops With Sensitive Info From Manhattan Prez

The NYPD is investigating a break-in at the campaign office of Manhattan Borough President Scott Stringer, CBS New York reports. Someone forcibly entered the office's front door at 40 Worth Street this weekend and swiped two lap top computers.

Stringer is expected to run for Mayor in 2013 and the computers are said to contain sensitive campaign and donor information.

Stringer's office has yet to comment on the Watergate-like crime, but we wonder if maybe a Belieber is to blame? There are, presumably, more photos in the computer of Stringer and Justin Bieber from last week's big announcement. Or maybe it was some ScarJo enthusiast.

Out of the crowded likely Democratic field of mayoral candidates, a poll in April showed Stringer trailing City Council Speaker Christine Quinn, former city Comptroller Bill Thompson, current Comptroller John Liu, and Public Advocate Bill de Blasio.
