Are These Sexist Moments Pulled From History Books, Or Headlines?

For every giant leap Americans make towards gender equality, we also tend to miss a few (or 100) steps. 

Sexism at all levels of public and private life is perhaps more visible now than ever. As activists continue to fight for women's social, political and economic equality, "traditional" values and gender roles have proven hard to overcome. 

Fighting sexism is like a game of Whack-A-Mole that's lasted for centuries -- we keep on smashing those pesky reminders of patriarchy whenever they pop up. And while women have made remarkable progress over the last century, and even decade, there's still a lot more work to be done. 

We rounded up four noteworthy feminist victories and setbacks, and asked people in New York to guess when they occurred. Sadly, figuring out whether a rudimentary step towards gender equality or an insanely archaic idea about women made headlines recently or decades ago isn't as easy as it should be. 

At least we have a constitutional amendment guaranteeing equal rights for women, right? Well, watch and see.
