Shooting Near Columbia University Leaves Three Dead In BMW

Three Men Found Shot To Death In BMW Near Columbia University

Three men were found shot dead inside a BMW near Columbia University Thursday evening.

The victims, all in their 20's and 30's, were discovered by a passerby at 6:30 pm in Morningside Heights at Claremont Avenue near West 122nd street. The $88,000 car was parked legally near Columbia University's Knox Hall.

Sources told the New York Post that the victims were each shot in the neck.

The Daily News has a picture of the car, but police say the license plates do not belong to that vehicle.

The shooting apparently took place inside the car, police said, since none of the windows of the vehicle were broken. The Columbia Spectator says that police do not suspect this to be a murder-suicide.

While none of the victims appear to be Columbia Students, students were alerted to the crime via an emergency text message system, the Spectator reports.
