“Modern Family” co-creator Christopher Lloyd has left fans dying to know who gets killed off on the show.

Lloyd told Entertainment Weekly on Thursday that a “significant character” will die in the first half of upcoming Season 10.

Lloyd gave no hints as to who will meet his or her demise, but said the passing “will be a moving event ― an event that has repercussions across several episodes.”

Gulp.

“It’s not easy to do [on TV] because that’s a heavy subject,” Lloyd explained. “But at the same time, it would seem unusual for a family not to go through it.”

“Modern Family,” which won the Emmy for outstanding comedy five straight times at one point (but is not up for the award at Monday’s ceremony), is a large ensemble comedy. Ed O’Neill plays the patriarch of the blended clan. The show also stars Ty Burrell, Julie Bowen, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Sofia Vergara, Eric Stonestreet, Ariel Winter, Sarah Hyland, Rico Rodriguez, Nolan Gould, Aubrey Anderson-Emmons and Jeremy Maguire.

Your guess is as good as ours.

Kinda ghoulish, but someone even posted odds.

And, of course, some viewers made their fatal forecasts:

While the program is entering the last year of its contract, Lloyd is optimistic that “goodwill on both sides” will extend the show’s life ― even if one character’s life is being cut short.
