Small Business Saturday Chicago: Where To Shop For Locally-Owned, Original Goods

Top Picks For Shopping Local This Holiday Weekend

With the cult of Black Friday growing each year--along with its pre-dawn wakeup calls and hordes of shoppers--Small Business Saturday is the day-after reprieve from big box chaos.

Launched two years ago by American Express, Small Business Saturday aims to boost exposure and foot traffic to mom and pop shops during the busiest shopping weekend of the year.

For Chicagoans, small business shopping has the added bonus of ditching the tourist-choked stores in the Loop and hitting the hidden gems tucked in far-flung corners of the city.

In honor of Small Business Saturday 2012, HuffPost Chicago has rounded a few of our favorite small businesses so shoppers can do the local economy a solid while snagging way better gifts than what the mega chains can offer.
