Stan Van Gundy: David Stern Doesn't Tolerate Free Speech (VIDEO)

Magic Coach Calls Out NBA Commissioner

Stan Van Gundy has had enough of the way referees are officiating All-Star center Dwight Howard's games.

The Orlando Magic coach went on a long rant to reporters on Wednesday afternoon, ripping NBA Commissioner David Stern while defending Howard after getting suspended for one game due to receiving 16 technical fouls.

Gundy pointed out that Howard has been fouled exactly 593 times and none of them were ruled flagrant fouls. He said Howard has had "great restraint" this season and that he thinks it's "really incredible" that an opponent hasn't been called for excessive contact.

After a reporter asked him if he thinks the technical foul system is fair, Gundy turned his attention to Stern.

"I can't answer that. And I certainly can't have an opinion because David Stern, like a lot of leaders we've seen in this world lately, don't really tolerate other people's opinions or free speech or anything," Gundy explained. "So I'm not really allowed to have an opinion, so it's up to him. He decides. And he likes the system that he has."
