Starbucks Announces Official Pumpkin Spice Latte Release Date

This is not a drill.

All the lonely Starbucks lovers finally have reason to celebrate. Pumpkin spice lattes are back, people!

Though it seems like hot, steamy August was only yesterday, and it was, Starbucks is now serving its fall favorite in stores nationwide. While the PSL’s official fall launch date is Tuesday, Sept. 6, pumpkin spice latte fans can already unlock PSL early access on Starbucks’ website or in any Starbucks location.

Starbucks also announced the launch of a new seasonal beverage, the chile mocha. Inspired by sweet and spicy Mexican drinks like horchata and champurrado, Starbucks has created a chocolatey drink with some fire to it.

“When we think about fall, often people think about warmth and spice, like cinnamon and apple pie,” said Michelle Sundquist, Starbucks’ senior product developer. “We decided to take that idea in a new direction with chocolate and a bit of heat.”

The chile mocha is made with espresso, steamed milk, and a cocoa and cinnamon powder blend, topped off with whipped cream. The drink gets its kick from a sprinkling of chile mocha topping: cinnamon, paprika, sugar, sea salt and ancho and cayenne chile pepper.

If you’ve made it to the end of this post, we applaud you. Everyone else has left Kool-Aid Man holes in the walls in their race to get to Starbucks. Now go get yourself the pumpkin spice latte you so richly deserve.
