Steven Tyler hasn't been shy when it comes to opening up about his past drug use.

"I'd had a lot of practice with drugs; I'd been getting high since I was sixteen. I was getting high all the time back then. It was part of my education," he wrote in his 2011 memoir, "Does the Noise in My Head Bother You?"

In the same tome, he even estimated that the habit may have cost him $20 million.

But now, in a new interview on Australia's "60 Minutes," he admits that number may have been a little high.

"Probably, realistically, 5 or 6 [million], easy," Tyler, 64, said. "But it doesn't matter. You could also say I snorted half of Peru, but, you know, it's what we did."

Since his stint on "American Idol" ended in 2012, the Aerosmith frontman has made headlines for criticizing new "AI" judge Nicki Minaj and convincing a Hawaii Senate committee to approve a bill to protect celebrities from intrusive paparazzi.
