CHART: America's Strangest Taxes, Including Cocaine, Sex & Blueberries

One of the financial perks of illegal drug dealing is presumably a tax-free income. But in Tennessee between 2005 and 2009, if you were dealing illegal drugs, getting arrested wasn't the only state-enforced danger to be wary of.

According to TurboTax/Intuit's roundup of America's most bizarre taxes, Tennessee drug dealers were required to pay a tax per gram on illegal drugs: $3.50 for marijuana, $50 for cocaine, and $200 for meth and crack cocaine.

The taxes were to be paid anonymously at the state revenue office where the dealer would receive a stamp to prove payment; if a dealer was arrested sans-stamp, the state would seek the money it was owed. 22 states have now passed similar laws modeled on Tennessee's.
