'Swamp People' Premiere: Jay Paul Jumps In The Water, Gets A Massive Gator In A Headlock (VIDEO)

'Swamp People' Premiere: Gator In A Headlock

"Swamp People" was back with a season premiere that featured alligator wrestling in the water. Not that this was the intended plan going into the capture of 12-foot, 650-pound alligator, but Jay Paul Molinere had to improvise.

After shooting the alligator, Jay Paul realized that it was only injured. So to capture him, Jay Paul jumped into the water -- with the gator! His father, R.J. Molinere Jr., was on hand, trying to give his son words of encouragement. It's hard to fathom what it must be like to see your son putting a massive alligator into a headlock.

Jay Paul managed just that, which ultimately worked. R.J. said he was scared the gator would go into a death roll, which could have easily drowned Jay Paul. But everything came out all right in the end.

Follow the new season of "Swamp People" every Thursday at 9 p.m. EST on History.
