Sybil, Former Downing Street Cat, Dead

The British Chancellor's cat Sybil has died, according to BBC News.

The former Downing Street pet passed away after a short illness.

Sybil was a famed mouse-catcher on one of the most famous British properties for six months after moving to London with the Chancellor's family, but had moved out to find greater comfort beyond the city lights, according to BBC.

Meanwhile, in the U.S., President Clinton's beloved cat Socks was put to sleep in February 2009 after lengthy cancer treatments failed to cure the pet, reports CNN.

The Obama family recently welcomed the newest First Pet, Bo, a Portuguese water dog, to the White House.
