Ted Haggard's New Church Outgrows Barn, Moving To Pikes Peak Center

Former mega-church pastor Ted Haggard is making headlines again. This time, though, he's not predicting the end of the religious right, nor is he soliciting crystal meth and male prostitutes.

Haggard's recently incorporated St. James church, his newest religious venture, has outgrown itself. Though the first services at St. James drew 160 people, attendance has risen to 245--enough to justify moving the church out of Haggard's barn to the nearby Pikes Peak Center.

Haggard told the Colorado Springs Gazette on Monday that his barn was over capacity, and also that the insurer who holds the policy on his home won't cover the church's meetings.

Regarding the congregation's growth, Haggard said Monday, "Jesus multiplied loaves and fishes; we multiplied people."
