Ted Kennedy's Virginia House On Market For Nearly $10 Million

Ted Kennedy's Former House Overlooking Potomac For Sale

WASHINGTON -- Ted Kennedy's former house overlooking the Potomac River is for sale.

The late U.S. senator's 10-bedroom, nine-bath house, on a double lot at 634-636 Chain Bridge Road in McLean, Va., is listed at $9,995,000. (That's just $37,200 per month for the next 30 years, according to an online mortgage calculator.)

The riverfront house sits on six and a half wooded acres, and was on the market for $13,500,000 in 2007.

Built in 1968, the house was designed by architect John Carl Warnecke, who also designed John F. Kennedy's gravesite in Arlington National Cemetery and Executive Branch office buildings near the White House that preserved the historic nature of Lafayette Park's rowhouses.

Washington Fine Properties has a video tour of the property, which does nothing to abate our desire to live on six-and-a-half wooded riverfront acres.

It's just down the road from the Hickory Hill estate formerly owned by Robert F. Kennedy.

The Massachusetts Democrat moved to a home in the District of Columbia's tony Kalorama neighborhood in 1999. That home was sold to the Republic of Gabon following the senator's death in 2009.
