Thanks to My Fears I Began to Live

One of the biggest fears that I think we all have is the fear of success, and the fear to discover our true essence and potential. What if you discover all that you really are able to achieve? What if you find a more direct way to successfully conquer your goals but where are you going to first need to test all your fears, prove your worth, your principles and your integrity?

Life is a long journey in which, although we all embark in different points, at the end, we all want to reach the same destination: happiness. However, we soon realize that everyone has the power to choose which way to go and how to travel this journey. There will be people who are more adventurous than other, people who are more conservative, and people that don't care where they go, but in the end, sooner or later, we all will walk through the same paths. We will have sunny days, and rainy days. We will go through beautiful traits, and also climb big mountains. We will have lived moments of joy and peace, and also moments of fear and doubts. But, it will be precisely during those stormy days, when we have no more strength to keep going, and when we feel completely lost in the dark, where we will find the true coordinates to be able to live the most incredible adventure of our lives.

If you look at the little ones, children usually are afraid of the dark, but if by any chance they are playing hide and seek in the darkness, somehow they completely forget their own fears. This is a simple example that may help us understand how fears only become a threat when we decide to be away from them. Nevertheless, once you are inside your fears, and accept the shadows around you, those same fears automatically lose their strength to give space to a new light you didn't know existed before. What at first made us suffer and feel insecure, lose sleep, cause anxiety and pain, now those same shadows give us the direction to master our true destiny.

Test yourself and try to remember a personal experience, a moment in your life where you were afraid to do something, but by taking the decision to move forward you were pleasantly surprised at how wrong you were in the first place. In my case, for example, I can tell you I was afraid to be capable to run a full marathon, to speak in public in front of a big audience or national television, or simply of being alone in my life. However, daring to conquer each one of these fears, not only did I overcome those insecurities and gain new wisdom and powers, but I also discovered the most important lesson of my life: that I have the full control of my destiny if I dared to go into the dark to discover who I really am. Since then, I have understood how this place of shadows and darkness has a very valuable purpose; to become the compass of my life.

Would you be able to confront the challenge of the dark in exchange of happiness? Do you have the self power and motivation that it takes?

The decision to change the course of your life when you are in your mid years involves a lot of courage to explore, analyze, understand and accept both the positive and negative aspects of yourself, and take full responsibility of the consequences for each one of your decisions and actions. Part of this incredible transformation is to learn how to travel with less luggage on our shoulders. I'm talking about those suitcases full of fears, insecurities, bonds, and that great trunk of ego that we all carry most of the time. Letting go of these very heavy loads on the road to make your journey more light and pleasant is not as easy as it sounds, but when you freely choose to let them go, you will find yourself much lighter and open to a new world of possibilities.

It 's time to choose which path you want to take. Do not obsess over the destination, the goal or objective you want to achieve, instead focus on giving your best to everything you do, on living each moment the fullest, on awakening your own consciousness on everything is happening around you and within you, and of course, enjoying your journey along the way. That's where you will find happiness. In the journey. Only YOU can choose how to travel. Would you rather live afraid of the dark, acting as others want you to act, hiding your talents, and settling for less? or do you prefer to retrieve the coordinates of your life, discover your true potential, and put into action each one of your wonderful powers to live a real adventure with a purpose? If your answered yes to the second one, your fears will show you the way to the light.

Von voyage!
