Mel Gibson is making his film comeback -- in the the guise of a beaver.
The troubled star, who has spent the past few years dealing with a domestic violence dispute and charges of racism and anti-semitism, features in "The Beaver," acting alongside friend and director Jodie Foster. Gibson plays a traumatized man who channels his personality into a puppet, allowing it to speak for him, as a part of the healing process.
The film was long delayed due to Gibson's troubles and is finally seeing its release in May. In an interview with Deadline, Gibson said that he'll continue to act -- but at this point, doing so is not the most important thing in his life.
"I could easily not act again. It's not a problem. I'm going to do something now because I want to do it and because it's fun," he told the website. "I've already pulled another job and it's going to be fun. I don't know if it's going to get off the ground, but I'm going to go work for ["Braveheart" screenwriter"] Randy Wallace again. He's got this script and he's had it for years. He wrote some book and he's adapted it to a script. And it's almost like Alexander Dumas -- like that swashbuckler kind of stuff."
