'The Chew,' ABC's New Cooking Talk Show, Premieres Monday: Here's An Early Look (VIDEOS)

After months of hype and press, The Chew, ABC's new food and cooking talk show, is premiering this Monday, September 26th, at 1 p.m.. If you haven't been following the story, here are the basics: The Chew aims to focus on a broad variety of food-related topics in a talky format. Think of it as The View with more frying pans. The main cast members are Mario Batali, Michael Symon, Daphne Oz, Carla Hall and Clinton Kelly. They'll also discuss topics with guest stars from the food world.

ABC apparently has a lot riding on the show; the network just wrapped on the years-long soap franchise All My Children, and is looking to The Chew to help support daytime ratings.

Carla Hall spoke with Patch about the show. She described it as a forum for "cooking on a budget -- fast, easy recipes -- to bring the family together around food."
