Despite the financial crisis in Greece, there are many aspects of Greece that are not in crisis such as the beauty of its environment, food, history, culture and the hospitality of its people. There remain many reasons for tourists to visit Greece, but let's get to the heart of the problem.
The financial crisis in Greece can be viewed as a blessing in disguise, but it is also a call for change. Not just a call for change in Greece, but the world. There is a spiritual awakening occurring in Greece; the land of the beginnings of civilization and democracy. Greece has bought to light what many of us already knew that ego and greed cannot sustain a world or us. A "we" not "me" approach is required. As the ancient Greeks would preach we are all one. Indeed the truth is near and many crumbling is required for renewal and restoration to occur in Greece and the world. It's time for truth to surface and for financial slavery and the slavery of people to come to an end. Agapi (the Greek word for unconditional love) is required and the realization that we all need each other and countries need each other. Aristotle said,

Love is the cause of unity of all things

Greece and the world has forgotten the ancient practice of agapi and many other thriving ancient Greek wisdoms. This along with other factors has led to Greece's crisis. The Greeks survived the wars and oppression of the Germans and the Italians during WWII and the 400 years of occupation by the Turkish and they will survive this war.
What is happening in Greece is not just Greece's problem but affects us all. We must adopt a Socratic philosophy to heal the world. In his words: 'never, when asked one's country, to answer,

I am an Athenian or a Cornithian, but I am a citizen of the world.

We must not only care about what is going on with the environment in our own country but what is happening to the environment of the whole world. We are all united by one energy as the ancient Greeks observed.
A divide and conquer approach, the creation of fear, debt slavery, enslaving people to unreasonable demands and bullying tactics is not a compassionate or sustainable system for the world to operate under. Many of us are so paralyzed by fear that we have become unconscious to what is really going on in Greece. That is that a few individuals, namely the banks and a minority of private corporates and government vested parties; "cartels" are the only parties that will gain from this crisis and the loans. As Henry Ford observed, "It is well enough that people of the nation do not understand our banking and monetary system, for if they did, I believe there would be a revolution before tomorrow morning."
Perhaps one currency in the European Union was a way of easier control over countries and their people. It is easier to control when there is one currency rather than multiple. A way to create one set of rules and controls to limit creativity and uniqueness of identity. Perhaps Greece has become aware of the apparent disguised "scheme" and is now saying it's a time to change this monopolized system of control and stifling of independent intuitive thinking.
We are living in times where people are controlled by fear; however, Greece's referendum vote has demonstrated and shown people standing up and saying we have had enough of fear, archaic self- serving demands and systems. At the end fear must be replaced with faith and agapi and there must be a better way to this expected norm. It's time for people to take their power back because they can no longer solely rely on their own government for support and protection as we have witnessed in Greece. Unfortunately most governments have lost their true sense of democracy and its meaning and adopted a distorted model. Power has been taken from the people "the losers" and given to the minority namely banks, a few private corporates and government vested parties "the winners".
The crisis in Greece is highlighting the crisis in our own countries backyards and personal lives such as the financial crisis, the crisis with our food, and medical system.
The Greeks are expressing their uniqueness and stepping out of the norm that serves the minority. They value their freedom and themselves. Its time for the people to take back their power and to learn to respect and love one another. Its time to make decisions with love and compassion and to implement a united approach. Its time for world cooperation and collaboration based on agapi and respect and only then can we as individuals and countries thrive. With love we have the power to achieve and do anything. Principles in Ancient Greece that proved to bring many benefits to the world including gastronomy, astrology, medicine, philosophy and democracy to name a few.
What is needed is:
-A cooperative and united and unified approach.
-A return to for the people approach not on a few private interested parties with vested personal interests.
-A return to a decision making system based on conscious decision making with awareness on the impact on others at its core and compassion.
-A return to equality and harmony and not inequality and disharmony.
-A return to a 'we' approach not a 'me' approach.
-An innovative intuitive approach incorporating collective wisdom from the past and present.
A collective sharing nurturing approach is emerging and it is about to begin in Greece. Only this approach in each of us will enable ourselves and this world to thrive. The existing systems and ways are becoming archaic and non- sustainable. The current self-serving systems serves no one.
We all need each other equally. Without Asia Italy and Greece would have no pasta. Without Greece the world would not have no olive oil, and pizza, and without Peru we would not have tomatoes to name a few and the list goes on.
History will be rewritten by Greece and again

the Future ages will wonder at us, as the present age wonders at us now. We do not need the praises of a Homer, or of anyone else whose words may delight us for the moment, but whose estimation of facts will fall short of what is really true. For our adventurous spirit has forced an entry into every sea and into every land; and everywhere we have left behind us everlasting memorials of good done to our friends or suffering inflicted on our enemies.
