With all the recent talk of the Confederate flag, it seems appropriate to highlight the many overlooked places that are sources of real Southern pride and heritage -- particularly that which are black and Southern. Take the cemeteries of Richmond, Virginia, the former capital of the Confederacy. Woodland Cemetery (pictured in the following slideshow), for instance, is a historically black cemetery founded by famed newspaper editor John Mitchell, Jr. The cemetery is home to the world-renowned black tennis player, Arthur Ashe, and other members of Richmond's African-American community.
