The first rule of setting up a small bedroom? Find furniture that multitasks.

The LiliLite, which hit its fundraising goal on Kickstarter, is a triple threat for book-lovers. It stows tomes, sheds light and even bookmarks your page. Made of steamed plywood, the z-shaped shelf mounts to the wall above your bed. Stack paperbacks and small electronics on its ledge; splay the book you're currently reading across the eave.

When you lift your current read from its resting place, a pressure sensor triggers the embedded LED light. Place the book back down and the light winks off. (Rest easy, auto-sensor-haters: There's a switch for the lamp, too.)

Not sleeping alone? Double up, and keep their James Patterson away from your James Joyce.
