Malcolm McDowell Plays A Cult Leader On 'The Mentalist'

Malcolm McDowell guest-starred on "The Mentalist" (Thu., 10 p.m. EST on CBS) Thursday night playing Bret Stiles, a charismatic leader of a cult named Visualize.

Stiles was also the prime suspect in the murder of anti-cult activist Gabriel Meadows.

When Patrick Jane (Simon Baker) and Teresa Lisbon (Robin Tunney) went to arrest Stiles they saw first-hand the power he exerted over his followers.

As if of one mind, they all stood up from their seats looking like they would physically block any attempt to take him into custody.

Stiles, however, defused the tension in the room by calmly wiping his mouth with a napkin and saying, "No cause for alarm. Be at peace."

"The Mentalist" airs Thursdays at 10 p.m. EST on CBS.
