It's safe to say that The Row is the most reliable show during New York Fashion Week. Every time Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen put out a collection, it is well-edited, innovative and oh, so beautiful. And this year was no exception.
The pieces that came down the runway had the signature Olsen trademark -- everything was oversized -- which had us harkening back to the days when they carried Balenciaga bags and had a decidedly "hobo chic" sense of style. Though their aesthetic has remained the same, their point of view has changed. The Fall 2014 collection was raw, yet refined. The garments were androgynous, but expertly tailored. It was clear that the sisters injected a certain level of sophistication into their line that they have honed over the years as designers.
Our favorite look, a grey cashmere coat and cream wool skirt, was introduced in the middle of the show. The model wore the oversized outerwear with a cashmere sweater, a calfskin bag and crocodile brogues (and of course, a pair of grey crew socks, one of the biggest trends at Fashion Week). This has to be one of the coziest outfits we've seen so far -- is it bad that we want to skip spring and go straight to fall?
