Mouths dropped and eyes rolled when Linda Evangelista requested $46,000 per month in child support from Francois-Henri Pinault in Manhattan Family Court this week.

So, of course, the gals on "The View" had to put in their two cents, engaging in a typically-lively debate that devolved into utter hilarity.

The argument went a little something like this...

Whoopi plants the seed: "I wonder... Is this a child he wanted to have?"

Sherri takes the bait: "Well I think anytime you lay together, you know there is a chance somebody is going to get pregnant."

Joy to Sherri: "Where did you get this expression 'laying with him'?"

Elisabeth: "It's biblical! It's biblical!"

Barbara: "'To lay with' is such a charming way to discuss intercourse."

Elisabeth: "It's biblical."

The ladies continued to mull over the large sum of money demanded, Pinault's responsibility to pay and whether there are additional responsibilities now for raising the child.

But it all comes down to this motto, care of Elisabeth Hasselbeck:

"This is my new rule: 'If you lay, you pay.'"
