As this summer continues to fly by, it's great to take a step back and think about all things only we Detroiters get to do this time of year. Whether it's a beautiful Sunday morning at Eastern Market or a great lunch at Bucharest Grill's new Corktown location - Detroit has a lot to offer.

There's more than a few things I'm pumped to in Detroit this July and August. Here's a rundown of my top five:

One might remember SID from their Kickstarter campaign fundraising for a 2014 season. After a successful showing of "Antony and Cleopatra" this past March, the troupe is back for another performance. The play is free for all to attend, and you won't want to miss it.

2) Speaking of New Center Park, Free Movie Wednesdays!

From the Detroit Riverwalk to hanging out at the Heidelberg Project, it's nice to soak up culture in the city without breaking the bank. Actually, everything on my list so far is FREE of charge. You're welcome.

The Heroes of Tomorrow Collective does an event on the last Sunday of every month to highlight local musicians. Make sure to check their Facebook page for info about the July 27th event! Here's more info from their website:

Every last Sunday of the month at 5e Gallery we give local artist the platform to showcase their art. Allowing these artist to make our stage their home for the evening. Accompanied with the artist line-up is a house band and Erica Glenn of Two Dollar Tacos. SYLS is the first event Heroes of Tomorrow introduced and since it's introduction in March of 2014 has only garnered more attention.

Heroes of Tomorrow was founded by Tony Robinson, Loy Cohen and Torique Kenyae. These three young men had the simple idea that the avenues of art, business and music were strong in the city of Detroit but missing the stage on which to display them. They decided that they knew how to give Detroit what it was missing and introduced to the city: HOT Collective.

5) #TheMonsterTour Eminem Concert in August

I'm lucky enough to have a ticket, and can't wait to see Marshall in the D.

How are you spending the rest of the summer in the city? One thing is certain -with such a wide variety of possibilities, it's a good summer to be a Detroiter.
