"The Art of Cooking"
What: Art shows are fun because of the free booze, but they're more fun when there's booze plus food plus art about food. In addition to the art, on the menu for this opening: POM cocktails, Kirin Beer, Azature chocolates paired with cocktails and champagne, Jarlsberg Cheese treats and Haribo Gummy Bears. Eat artfully!

Bruce Springsteen
What: The boss himself is in the Jungleland. He'll be performing songs from his new album, Wrecking Ball, which apparently switches it up a bit, with everything from Southern gospel, Irish folk music, New York rap to Southern twang. Take a listen in the video below. Tickets are a bit pricey, but if you're a loyal fan, you will "pay [you your] money down."

SATURDAY
"Maja's Mysteries"
What: Who better to tour the spiritual sites of the city with than the White Witch of Los Angeles? As she explains in the video below, Ms. Maja D'Aoust will be leading this month's Esotouric bus adventure. Stops on the journey: The Aetherius Society, Krotona Apartments, Parsonage of Sister Aimee Semple McPherson and the Vedanta Society of Southern California. May you reach enlightenment.

10th Annual Grilled Cheese Invitational
What: You will be able to smell the cheese from miles away. There's a professional grilled cheese competition as well as a People's Choice competition, where attendees are invited to devour and rate $2-$5 grilled cheese delights. The event will also include cooking demos from master chefs, live bands, costumes and poetry (about cheese?).
When: Saturday, April 28, 11am-6pm, $15

LA Derby Dolls
What: Spread a little of your Lakers and Dodgers love to another, equally deserving athletic group: the Los Angeles Derby Dolls. These are the toughest gals in town, and there's never a dull moment in their matches. Be impressed this Saturday night as the Tough Cookies and the Varsity Brawlers duke it out. It's an all-ages event, and alcohol sales are open to 21+ guests. Check out the video below to see just how rough these dolls play.

SUNDAY
Public Transit Party!
What: Believe it or not, the Expo Line Phase 1 is actually done! Take part in a weekend-long celebration that includes free rides for all, live performers on board, a mime, a magician with a cat, karaoke and much more. The 20th anniversary of the LA riots is Sunday, so get off the Expo at USC and head to the commemorative South LA Rises event, which will feature music, entertainment, speakers and food.
When: Sunday, April 29, 5am-7pm, Free
Where: From downtown LA to the Westside

A Sellers Celebration
What: Get your groove on like it was 1968. This Peter Sellers double-header starts with "The Party," where Sellers plays an accidentally-invited disastrous house guest at an ultra-Hollywood party. Next comes "I Love You, Alice B. Toklas," in which Sellers falls in love with a seductive Venice Beach hippie chick. The title references writer Alice B. Toklas, whose 1954 cookbook included a pot brownie recipe. Enjoy both trailers below.
