After Bill Clinton's "I want to say also, that this may be the last day I'm ever involved in a campaign of this kind" statement in South Dakota, here's how I picture his final primary morning:

"Thanks for the coffee. This may be the last morning we ever pay your salary."2008-06-03-photo3.jpg

"And this may be the second time I fire Ickes from a campaign after he refused to tell Tim Russert whether or not Hillary will congratulate Obama after the primaries."

"By the way, this may be the last time I ever have breakfast with an advance team with the New York meeting coming up tomorrow. It's been nice knowing you guys."

"Hey Steve Bing, are there any magazines around? After that Purdum piece, this may be the last time I ever read Vanity Fair. I mean come on -- The Comeback Id With Bubba Trouble as a subhead? That's worse than Primary Colors."

"Oh, and sorry Hillary. This may be the last time I ever step on your line right before a crucial campaign announcement."

The Clinton phone rings, with Barack Obama's vice presidential vetting committee on the line. Bill accepts with: "Okay, but this may be the last time. I don't know."
