Tim Tebow To Jets: Quarterback Bringing Foundation To New York (UPDATE)

Tebow Excited To Expand Charity Work To New York!

UPDATE: It's official. Tim Tebow will play for the New York Jets, according to the Associated Press.

New York scored a polarizing quarterback and an immeasurable amount of goodwill Wednesday.

After signing Peyton Manning to a five-year deal, the Denver Broncos traded quarterback Tim Tebow to the New York Jets, the Associated Press reports. As Tebow prepares to make his way to the Big Apple, he has plans to bring his skills -- and commitment to giving back to those in need.

“God has opened a new door and we look forward to adding New York to the list of cities that we serve!” the Tim Tebow Foundation posted to its Facebook wall Wednesday afternoon.

One of the football star's favorite good deeds to offer up is making dreams come true for young people battling life-threatening diseases.

In February, the devout Christian took Presli Collins, 10, out on her first date ever to the Cartoon Network’s Hall of Game Awards. Presli suffers from neurofibromatosis, a rare disease that forms tumors in the brain, spinal cord and under the skin, according to Fox News Insider.

“It made me feel very excited,” Presli told HLNTV about her experience.

For Tebow’s latest giving spree, he’s opening playrooms for sick kids throughout the country.

Tebow’s foundation partnered with Dreams Come True and opened up the first “Timmy’s Playroom" at its Jacksonville, Fla., headquarters. The playrooms will serve as a place for kids battling life-threatening diseases to take a break and have fun, News4Jax.com reports.

The quarterback partook in the ribbon-cutting ceremony last Thursday and said he has plans to open 18 similar playrooms this year.

Setting up these places to hang out won’t take away from his mission to meet with sick kids whose wish is to spend time with Tebow, though.

Dreams Come True will continue to connect Tebow with ill children throughout the country who wish to meet with him.

“I am always humbled and honored that there are children whose wish is to spend time with me,” Tebow said in a statement on his foundation’s website. “I always walk away confident that I am the one who was blessed to be around such strong and courageous children.”
