Tim Tebow Wants To Play In The NFL But Are Canada Or The AFL Next For Heisman Trophy Winner?

ODDS: Where Will Tebow Play Next?

Tim Tebow isn't giving up his "lifelong dream of being an NFL quarterback." But according to quarterback coach Steve Clarkson, it might be time to look elsewhere.

"It's time now to maybe just reconsider a different path to his ultimate dream. Tim might want to look to the CFL because he may have run out of options in the NFL," Clarkson told Jim Corbett of USA Today on Sunday. Clarkson worked with Tebow back in February. "Sitting is not an option for Tim. He's ultra-competitive. He needs to stick to his strength, which is being in a competitive environment."

The New England Patriots released the quarterback on Saturday as part of the team's roster cuts to get to 53 players. Tebow completed 11 of 30 passes in the preseason for 145 yards and threw two touchdowns along with two interceptions.

Despite Clarkson's suggestion, Tebow won't necessarily find a starting CFL job simply by crossing the border. The Montreal Alouettes, who hold Tebow's CFL negotiating rights, said back in April that they would welcome Tebow to compete for the team's backup quarterback job. Closer to home, Tebow has received warmer invites from Arena Football League teams.

If Tebow truly has an NFL-or-bust mindset, Patriots head coach Bill Belichick left the door slightly ajar for a return to New England.

“I don’t know what’s going to happen during the year, but certainly we’ve had a lot of players who’ve left here and come back here,” Belichick said on Saturday, via CBS New York. “That’s already happened multiple times this year.”

Will Tebow be forced to wait by the phone for a call from the Pats? Should he head to Canada or the AFL? Here are the latest odds on where Tebow will find his next job.
