Tim Tebow Signs Minor League Contract With Mets

Let the hype begin.

The New York Mets said Thursday that they had signed Tim Tebow to a minor league baseball contract.

The former Heisman Trophy winner and NFL quarterback will participate in the Mets Instructional League, the team noted in an early morning tweet.

Tebow, who previously launched a career in television broadcasting, performed in a highly publicized tryout for Major League Baseball scouts in Los Angeles Aug. 30.

Tebow reportedly last played organized baseball his junior year at Nease High School in Florida. He hit .494 as an all-county outfielder.

Tebow will play for the Mets’ Instructional League team in Port St. Lucie, Florida, ESPN reported.

To prepare for baseball, he worked out for three months at an Arizona baseball school operated by former journeyman catcher Chad Moeller, Associated Press wrote.
