Tim Tebow Trade? If Manning Lands In Denver, Tebomania Is Likely To End In Denver

Tebowmania Is Likely To End If Manning Lands In Denver

Is the clock ticking on Tebow Time in Denver?

Well, according to Pro Football Talk's Mike Florio that could very well be the case. Florio says that he got a tip from an anonymous source "with knowledge of the dynamics in Denver" that if Peyton Manning does sign with the Broncos, Tebow will most likely be traded.

There is no way that the Broncos would simply cut Tebow, rather Pro Football Talk also heard that the Jacksonville Jaguars are interested in acquiring the quarterback that led the Broncos to an AFC West Division title for the first time since 2005.

Prior to Florio's report, there has been much speculation that if Manning did come to Denver, he might serve as a mentor to Tebow. Manning even appears to be a fan of Tebow, at least he was in 2010 when he said to Gator Sports, "Any NFL team would be lucky to have Tim Tebow."

Signing Manning may not solve all of the Broncos troubles. As The Denver Post reports signing Manning seems to go against the Broncos long-term rebuilding plans. Broncos' executive vice president John Elway wants to balance the long-term goals with the short-term, and Manning definitely fits with the short-term, but given his age and injuries, signing Manning leaves the Broncos without that franchise QB to build around in the long-term if Tebow were to be traded.

If Tebow were to stay, there's still no guarantee that he'll ever be that elite NFL quarterback that Elway most certainly would want for Broncos. But, Tebow showed a lot of improvement last season, he energized the team and brought the Broncos fans to their feet (and to the billboards) game after game.

Tebow was apparently "rattled" by the Manning visit in Denver, Nicole Darin of WTSP-TV in Tampa, Fla. reported, so much so that he didn't speak with the media during any of his public appearances he made in Florida over the weekend during a benefit for wounded veterans, according to Yahoo! Sports.

However, as Bleacher Report points out, the Miami Dolphins and Arizona Cardinals look like the front-runners in this race for Manning, so Tebow may not have anything to be concerned about. Earlier reports stated that Manning was wanting to announce his new team pick by Tuesday of this week, that is now being called "highly unlikely" by ESPN since Manning has not engaged in contract negotiations with any of the teams he has visited so far.
