Tom Tancredo Effectively Tied With John Hickenlooper For Colorado Governor, According To A GOP Pollster

Republican Pollster Finds Tancredo, Hickenlooper Virtually Tied

A survey from the Republican polling firm Magellan Strategies showed American Constitution Party candidate Tom Tancredo trailing Democrat John Hickenlooper by just one point, with Maes receiving only 9% of the vote.

The poll was conducted via phone on Wednesday, October 20, and has a 3% margin for error. It surveyed 1,067 randomly selected Coloradans drawn from a voter file of homes with at least one registered voter. The response data was then weighted to reflect past voter demographic data from the last four election cycles.

Over the last several weeks, most polls have shown Tancredo, a former Republican congressman and presidential candidate, moving within single digits of Hickenlooper despite widespread predictions that the he would split the conservative vote with Maes and hand the election to the Democrats.

A Rasmussen poll from last week had Tancredo down just four points. However, a Reuters/Ipsos poll from earlier this week showed Hickenlooper with a more comfortable 11-point lead.

Magellan's website describes how the firm Strategies "offers a wide array of services for Republican candidates and organizations."
