President Donald Trump might have “shot the sheriff” ― FBI director James Comey ― but he “did not shoot the deputy.”
Which is why FBI associate director Andrew McCabe was still around to contradict the White House’s story that Trump fired Comey in part because FBI agents had lost all confidence in their boss.
“I hold Director Comey in the absolute highest regard, and have the highest respect for his considerable abilities and his integrity,” McCabe said while testifying before the Senate Judiciary Committee on Thursday. “I can tell you also that Director Comey enjoyed broad support within the FBI and still does.”
No matter. For according to “Daily Show” host Trevor Noah, a “blabbermouth” in the White House would soon reveal the truth about why Comey was really axed.
