Trump Campaign Manager Insists He's Been Consistent On The Border Wall

"He will have Mexico pay for it,” she said Sunday.

WASHINGTON ― Donald Trump’s campaign manager, Kellyanne Conway, says Trump’s position on building a wall between the United States and Mexico is firm ― despite evidence to the contrary.

Trump has insisted that he will build a “great, great wall” and that he will get Mexico to pay for it. But when the candidate visited Mexico this week, he said he and Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto did not discuss who would pay for the wall. However, Peña Nieto said they did, and that he emphasized Mexico would not be footing the bill.

Following the Mexico visit, Trump delivered an immigration speech in Arizona that was considerably less benevolent to Mexico.

The two continued to fight about it on Twitter for several days.

ABC’s “This Week with George Stephanopoulos” co-anchor Martha Raddatz asked Conway whether the Mexican president was “lying” about the wall discussion.

“Well, they disagreed on that conversation. But I think Mr. Trump clarified very clearly when he got to Arizona later in that day that he will build that wall,” said Conway. “And he has been consistent on that since day one of his candidacy. And he will have Mexico pay for it.”

“So his position has never changed on this side of the border or on that side of the border,” said Conway.

Editor’s note: Donald Trump regularly incites political violence and is a serial liar, rampant xenophobe, racist, misogynist and birther who has repeatedly pledged to ban all Muslims — 1.6 billion members of an entire religion — from entering the U.S.
