President Donald Trump seeks to weaken the Johnson Amendment with his latest religious liberty executive order, citing the activism of Martin Luther King, Jr., as one of the reasons he acted to do so. But the Johnson Amendment only prohibits non-profits from endorsing or opposing political candidates (which MLK never did), and includes no protections for other political speech.
