Two-Ticket Boot Plan Almost Official

Two-Ticket Boot Plan Almost Official

UPDATE

Aldermen delayed a vote Monday on Mayor Daley's plan to boot the cars of drivers with just two unpaid tickets, rather than the current minimum of three, the Tribune reports.

The City Council's Finance Committee put off consideration of the change at the request of the Daley administration, said the committee's chairman, Ald. Edward Burke (14th).

Burke said he did not know why the administration did not want his committee to vote on the plan Monday.

Earlier, Fran Spielman reported in the Sun-Times that the Finance Committee was all set to approve Daley's controversial plan.

The Finance Committee is expected to approve Mayor Daley's plan to make a $48 million dent in the city's massive $420 million budget shortfall, but not without a fight. The proposed booting bonanza threatens to immobilize another 208,273 vehicles.
